Bicycle Messengers
Bicycle messengers are key to communication in the Lower East Side. Each messenger rides the bicycle that she or he dreamed of as a child, you know, with the bell on the handlebars and the cool paint job and all the chrome.

DKF
Don't Know a F*ckinthing
This is a common state for new arrivals. Some in the Lower East Side are still in the DFK state after a couple of centuries.
E+ (or E-Plus)
Eternity Plus.... Usually refers to a sentence in the Other Place. Uptown and in many neighborhoods of the Lower East Side E+ refers to an enduring love. As in...
Earthbounds (EBs)
Earthbounds, or EBs, are spirits or souls who are somehow bonded to an Earthly Existence (EX). While most have opportunities to move on, many will be earthbound for eternity.
GA
GAs are Guardian Angels. A number of GAs come from the denizens of the Lower East Side because of the skills developed in their tough backgrounds on Earth. Teddy Leadville was once a guardian angel, but you'll have to get that story from him.
H2 - Hell Squared
H2 or Hell squared, is for people, and some animals like cats, are so bad that they have to bounce between a couple of the Special Places In Hell. You'll find a lot of politicians there.
Note: Only on earth, specifically the USA, does H2 refer to anything that sucks gallons of petroleum products.
HLES
Heaven's Lower East Side, often called the Lower East by Uptowners or "Les" by local residents.
